FAQs

I’m passionate about providing therapy in the Philadelphia area and throughout Pennsylvania.

Below are some frequently asked questions to help you learn more about my approach and what to expect.

If you have other questions, feel free to contact me to schedule a free 15-minute consultation.

  • I work with individuals ages 18 and older, couples, and families. For online sessions, you must be physically located in Pennsylvania.

  • The first session is about building a connection and helping you feel comfortable. We’ll discuss what brought you to therapy, explore your background, and talk about what success in therapy looks like for you. You’ll have time to ask questions, and we’ll plan the best times for future sessions.

  • Therapy provides a safe, structured, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and challenges. Whether addressing stress, trauma, anxiety, or relationships, I tailor sessions to your goals using evidence-based approaches. Therapy can feel uplifting or challenging, but the process is designed to lead to meaningful change and growth.

  • You don’t need to wait for a crisis to seek therapy. Here are some common reasons people reach out:

    • Feeling sad, anxious, or depressed

    • Difficulty managing stress

    • Strained relationships

    • A desire to understand yourself better

    • Feeling disconnected or unlike yourself

Therapy is an excellent step toward mental wellness and personal growth.

  • The length of therapy depends on your goals, history, and current challenges. I’ll regularly check in to ensure you’re making progress and discuss when it might be time to adjust session frequency or prepare to conclude therapy.

  • I recommend weekly sessions, especially at the start, as they lead to the best outcomes. For couples, weekly sessions are particularly effective. Some clients opt for bi-weekly sessions based on their budget or schedule.

  • Most sessions are 50 minutes long. Occasionally, I may recommend longer sessions, particularly for couples’ counseling or Brainspotting and EMDR work, to address specific challenges more thoroughly.

  • My fee is $165 per 50-minute session. I do not accept insurance, but I reserve several sliding-scale spots for clients who need reduced fees. If these spots are full, I can add you to a waitlist or provide referrals to other therapists with similar options.

  • I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform for online sessions. You don’t need special software—just a private space, good internet, and sufficient lighting. Studies show that online therapy is as effective as in-person therapy for most clients. However, for more complex conditions, in-person therapy might be a better fit, and we can discuss your options during the consultation.

  • I require 24 hours’ notice for cancellations, even if you’re sick. If you cancel within the 24-hour window, you’ll be charged for the session. If you start to feel unwell, let me know as soon as possible so I can offer your spot to someone on the waitlist.

  • Not at all! I offer faith-based Christian counseling upon request and welcome people of all faiths or those who desire a purely secular approach.
